Lining chimneys and flues in smokeless zones

Flexible Flue Liner and cast in situ lining

To work efficiently and safely, all wood burning and multi-fuel stoves require air tight, correctly fitted and insulated flue systems with chimney terminals capable of clearing products of combustion skywards and swiftly away from the building. Installing one is not a job for the amateur.

Old masonry chimneys in period houses which have previously been used for open coal fires, are likely to be porous, leaky or breached. This can affect the pull of the stove and emit smoke, dangerous fumes, carbon monoxide and other products of combustion into your property. Breached brickwork and previous inappropriate building alterations can also allow flames and raw heat near combustible materials, all leading to possible disastrous and fatal consequences.

Regulations are quite specific on the required tests for chimney flues prior to legal commissioning and signing off by HETAS engineers or Local Authority Building Control Officers. Without compliance you may have no house insurance……

Take Note: Chimney Linings, clamps, brackets, connectors, sealing plates and terminals all come in different grades, sizes and specifications. All are required to be compatible with your stove and also to comply with Regulations.
