DEFRA approved steel stoves for use in smokeless zones

Environmentally friendly steel stoves

Originally all stoves were manufactured from cast iron, but with technological advances it is now possible to produce reliable and efficient stoves in both steel and cast iron.

Steel offers cost benefits via lower production costs and greater versatility of design, but in reality most commercially available stoves are a mixture of both heavy gauge steel and traditional cast iron.

Welded joints and seals were once their weak point. Repeated expansion and contraction was likely to compromise longevity and the integrity of the essential air seals required for safe and efficient combustion.

Modern production techniques now enable manufacturers to offer excellent quality durable stoves with good warranties, but care should always be taken to ensure the appliance’s installation and operating instructions are closely adhered to, and the correct quality fuels used as specified.
